A tool for AI Overviews runs your searches in Google each day, stores each AI Overview, and records the days Google shows none. On their entry plans, eight of the nine tools we compare run your own prompts in AI Overviews. Track AI Mode apart. On the same 47 questions, AI Overviews cited 888 different domains, and AI Mode cited 471.

What is a Google AI Overview?

An AI Overview is the summary that Google shows above the results for some searches. Google shows one only when its systems find that it adds to the results, so many searches get none. AI Mode is a separate tab of Google Search, where the user asks follow-up questions in a chat.

The two features answer the same search differently, so track them apart.

Which tools track Google AI Overviews?

The table shows how each tool's entry plan sells AI Overviews and AI Mode for your own prompts. "Included if picked" means that the plan includes a few platforms of your choice. "Add-on" costs a monthly fee on top of the plan. FullReach AI is our own product, and it comes first.

How do AI Overviews differ from AI Mode and ChatGPT?

We asked the same 47 questions about AI visibility tools each day from 30 September to 13 October 2026. The questions ran in English, from Ireland. We track five tools in these answers.

  • AI Overviews cite the most sources. They cited 888 different domains, almost twice as many as AI Mode.
  • AI Overviews lean to SEO suites. The most-named SEO suite appeared in a third of the AI Overviews, and in about a tenth of the AI Mode answers.
  • One Google feature does not predict the other. Both got the same 47 questions, from the same country, on the same days.

What should a tool record about an AI Overview?

  • Whether Google showed one. No AI Overview is Google's choice for that search, not a failed check. The tool should count it apart.
  • The pages it cites. These pages are where your brand must appear.
  • The market and the language. Google answers the same search differently in another country.
  • Every day. Google can show an AI Overview one day and none the next.
  • The answer itself. Each number should open into the AI Overview it counts, with its date.

Google Search Console counts AI features inside the "Web" search type of its Performance report. It does not show the AI Overview text, or the brands it names.

How do you get your brand into AI Overviews?

Google states that AI Overviews and AI Mode have no additional requirements and need no special optimization. So the SEO basics stay: pages that Google can crawl and index, and content that answers the search. Google's guide to AI features explains them.

The measurement adds one point. AI Overviews cite many domains, so the pages that cite your rivals are a long list to work through. A tool that lists those pages per search shows where to start.
